Guidelines

Community guidelines.

EditBoxd exists to celebrate and elevate the edit and comp community. These guidelines keep it that way.

Credit the creator

Every edit on EditBoxd credits the original creator. Don't submit work and claim it's yours. Don't submit re-uploads — find the original. If you spot a miscredited edit, let us know.

Rate honestly

Ratings should reflect what you think of the edit, not your feelings about the creator. A 1-star spite rating on someone's best work undermines the whole system.

Review with substance

"This is fire" is nice but doesn't help anyone. Say what works — the colour grading, the beat sync, the pacing, the restraint. Say what doesn't. Critique is a gift when it's constructive.

Keep it respectful

Disagree on craft, not on character. No personal attacks, harassment, doxxing, hate speech, or discrimination. This applies everywhere — reviews, forum, chat.

No spam or self-promotion abuse

Submitting your own edits is fine — that's the point. Flooding the site with low-effort submissions to game ratings or visibility isn't.

No NSFW content

EditBoxd is for sports and pop-culture edits. Keep it clean.

Handle claims are real

If you claim a creator handle, it should be yours. Impersonation will be reversed and may result in a ban.

These guidelines will evolve as the community grows. If something feels off, flag it.
